"Good bye parents," said Neki rather harshly. Honestly! It was only the 5th time she had said goodbye as she stood in the middle of the cobbled street, owl cage under one arm and a trunk hovering about a foot off the ground on the other side of her.
Her mother and father where standing a few feet away, her father embracing her mother who was sobbing just a little, and rambling on about how small Neki used to be, and how it was like only yesterday when she was in nappies. Seriously, it wasn't as if this was her 1st year to Hogwarts. It was infact her 5th!
"Are you sure your ok? Do you not want us to pick you up after shopping and..." but he was cut off by Neki. "No dad, I told you. I can get a lift to the train from Diagon Alley. I'll be fine! Now go, get mom back to the house." He nodded swiftly and steered the crying woman back down the alleyway and out of sight.
Neki sighed. She rather liked being alone, more time to think about things without being rudely interrupted. She looked up at the building in front of her. The sign which bore a cauldron that emitted a plume of smoke, creaked in the wind. She smiled and entered The Leaky Cauldron, trunk floating behind her.
After dumping her bags in her room which she would be staying in until school started she heading down into the crowded street of Diagon Alley. As the day went by her money bag got lighter but the packages she carried got heavier. She kept looking around, expecting to see someone she knew, not for any particular reason, but she never saw anyone.
